Water Treatment Systems

Our water treatment systems are designed to fit within your community’s needs. The system components are locally available, off the shelf, and backwards compatible to save on maintenance costs.

Custom Designed MF/UF Membrane systems

We partner with Pall to design and build custom MF/UF membrane treatment plants. Our focus is designing and building water treatment systems capable of treating flows from 25 Gallons per Minute to up to 20 Million Gallons per Day. Each system is custom-designed, integrating equipment preferred by the plant operations and maintenance personnel. The components we use are available for direct purchase by the end user, which saves a great deal of money on the “back end” of the system.

Everything is custom designed and the system integrates with the treatment process currently in place.

Ion Exchange Systems

We partner with Pureflow Filtration Div. to supply ion exchange systems that are designed to remove radium, arsenic and other contaminants from well waters.

Custom Designed Nanofiltration and Reverse Osmosis Membrane Systems

For all NF/RO applications we partner with Komline Harn RO. Harn RO is the premier membrane systems manufacturer with an extensive record of designing, building and servicing membrane systems used to remove hardness (membrane softening) as well as produce potable water from brackish and salt water sources.

Manganese Dioxide Based Media Technology

We partner with Pureflow Filtration Div. to supply filtration technology designed to remove arsenic, iron, manganese, and sulfides from ground waters.

System Upgrades and Maintenance

Water Plant Upgrades & Expansions

We perform upgrades and expansions to existing membrane treatment facilities. The service can be as simple as adding additional membrane modules and revising control parameters, to updating instrumentation and controls systems software to current operating standards.

We also provide membrane module replacement, installation assistance, and spare parts for many of the membrane treatment system components.

Filter Media Replacement

In association with Unifilt Corporation, we offer complete filter replacement, repair and media servicing.

Membrane System controls Upgrade

We also provide system controls upgrades. These can range from updating the computer operating system, to adding various packages to the existing controls system.

Examples of the upgrades we provide:

  • Data Storage: We can configure your system controls to store all operating data and automatically compile the Monthly Operating Report.

  • Remote Operating: With our upgrade, the operator can remotely monitor and control all plant operations. If the operator receives an alarm in the middle of the night, he or she can remotely access the system via smartphone, tablet, or computer. In most cases the operator can resolve the alarm without having to visit the plant.

  • Remote Video Monitoring: We can mount cameras both on the inside of the buildings, and around the perimeter of the plant. Anyone with access to the video feed will have a real-time, on-site visual of what is occurring in or around the facility.

Contact us for a full list of upgrades we can perform on your system.

Troubleshooting Problem Plants

IMG_0984.jpg

Water treatment consultants and municipalities call upon our expertise to address issues that arise at existing membrane treatment facilities.

detailed investigations, Custom solutions

We provide solutions to membrane systems that are operating poorly.

In one case, the membrane treatment system was experiencing High TMP and declining Flux shortly after performing a Clean In Place operation. The equipment supplier suggested a number of different cleaning regimens to use. All failed. Water Membranes was called in to the facility, ascertained the issues, and provided the solution to restore the facility to its design capacity.

We perform membrane autopsies

In most cases, poor membrane performance is due to an improper or ineffective cleaning regimen.

The best way to solve poor membrane operation is to perform a membrane autopsy. The goal of the autopsy is to examine the membrane, ascertain the nature of the membrane foulants and develop a cleaning strategy that removes the foulants.

We don’t stop there.

Each PVDF membrane on the market today has its own level of crystallinity and stability. We examine the membrane after it is cleaned using the X-ray Energy Dispersion Spectroscopy (EDX) to ascertain the the level of dehydrofluorination. Dehydrofluorination occurs in many membranes and results in surface pore deformity and the dissolution of the membrane fiber structure. High pH cleaners cause dehydrofluorination. The Water Membranes autopsy determines whether the membrane in use is stable enough to handle a high pH cleaning regimen over the course of its design life.

We then recommend either using the cleaning regimen or replacing the membranes with a membrane that is stable enough to handle such cleanings throughout its operating life.

Strategic Upgrades solve problems

Sometimes troubleshooting involves adding a new step in the filtration and treatment process. Water quality changes over time. Although the system may not have needed to include pre-treatment when it was built, sometimes that step needs to be added at a later date. The solution can be as simple are pre-chlorinating the raw water, or may be as complex as a full-blown coagulation and settling system.

We review your process to make sure your system is still properly treating the water supply. If we need to make adjustment, we size and supply the components to guarantee the system’s performance.
